Finding a therapist that is a fit for you and being vulnerable to the help of someone else can feel intimidating. It can help to have an idea of your therapist’s strengths and expertise and an understanding of how therapy will progress.

How to know if you’re ready for therapy

  • You’ve tried to fix your problems, but nothing seems to stick

  • You’ve noticed a dysfunctional pattern in your life or relationships

  • Your emotions and intellect are out of balance

  • Your life feels out of control

  • You are ready to make a change

WHY THE HAVEN?

Personalized & Trustworthy

Confidentiality, emotional safety and customized treatment plans are our priority. We will design a plan based on your specific needs and adjust that plan as you progress. We strive to help you feel seen, heard, understood, respected and valued. You will not be judged for anything you share.

Coping vs. Healing

Most therapy focuses on stabilization, coping skills, and behavioral change. However, the root cause of the problem often still exists. When you process on a deeper level, buried wounds are healed and destructive cycles are broken. Deeper work leads to profound, lasting change.

Niche Focus

We are devoted to a few specific and related specialties, and we do not work outside of our scope. Our hope is that our expertise based on advanced training, extensive research, and years of learning from similar clients in real time will earn your trust and confidence in our approach.

Collaborative Approach

Your physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs are all important to us. With a release of information, we are happy to collaborate with other therapists, healthcare professionals, and support people to ensure all areas of your life are attended to and aligned.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Who should attend +

You are welcome to attend the intake session alone, with a support person, or as a couple if you’d like to grow together. Talking with your support person early in treatment may help us to better understand and help you. It can also assist them in learning how to best support you outside of therapy.

The first session +

In the first session, you will have a chance to warm up to the process. We will inquire about your life in general so that you feel comfortable before shifting to the concerns that brought you to therapy. Over 1-3 sessions in which you choose the pace, we will listen to your story, assess your symptoms, and your therapist will share her perception of your concerns from her therapeutic lens. Our goal is for you to feel understood, normalized, and hopeful. If you do not feel this way, please let us know.

Treatment plan +

After assessing your concerns through talking and formal assessments, we will support you in identifying your therapy goals and together we will create a personalized treatment plan to achieve them. We will touch base about the treatment plan and progress every 4-8 sessions to make sure we’re on track.

Duration of Treatment +

The duration of therapy can range from a few sessions to a few years, depending on the presenting problem. While treatment for a single situation or goal can require as little as 3 sessions, more complex problems can require more time in treatment to reach deeper layers at your core. In the first session, we will also discuss the appropriate frequency of sessions based on your symptoms and goals.

Fees & Insurance

The Haven is an out-of-network provider. We can provide a detailed receipt or “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of therapeutic services. Your clinician can provide one upon request.
